The context

Quietnest is a project where Oriana Solutions took on the entire development of a mobile app, from the idea to launch on both major platforms. This type of mandate, a founder who arrives with an app concept but no in-house technical team to build it, comes up often: the client has a clear vision of the experience they want to offer their users, but needs a partner able to handle UX/UI design, iOS and Android development, testing, and deployment on the App Store and Google Play, from start to finish. For Quietnest, the goal was not just to deliver a working app, but a product able to stand out in a market where new apps launch every week, budgets for user acquisition are tight, and user attention is hard to capture and even harder to keep. Every screen was designed to deliver a smooth, intuitive experience, keeping in mind that user engagement and retention depend as much on design and smooth navigation as on the features themselves. That approach paid off well beyond initial expectations: Quietnest has since been downloaded and used in over 22 countries around the world, and won first place nationally at the Ose Entreprendre competition, one of the most prestigious entrepreneurship competitions in Canada. That is the kind of result we aim for every time we support a mobile founder from idea to launch, and a good illustration of what a well-executed product can achieve beyond its original market. It is also a useful reference for any founder weighing whether to build for one platform first or launch on iOS and Android at the same time.

The challenge

Building a mobile app from scratch for both major platforms is a challenge that goes beyond code: it requires designing a consistent experience on iOS and Android, two ecosystems with their own interface rules, their own technical constraints, and their own publishing processes on the App Store and Google Play. With no in-house technical team, the Quietnest founder needed a partner able to cover every step: UX/UI design, development for both platforms, testing, then deployment and launch on both app stores, each with its own review rules before publication. The challenge was not just delivering an app that works, but one able to retain users in a mobile market where competition for attention is fierce, and where a confusing flow or a dated design is enough to get an app uninstalled within seconds. That meant every detail of the interface, from the first launch screen to the most frequent interactions, had to be designed to maximize engagement rather than simply stacking features on top of each other. Finally, an underlying goal of the project was to build an app able to reach beyond the local market, and so hold up against users and, eventually, standards on an international scale, which added an extra quality bar to every stage of development, from the first wireframe to final deployment on the stores and post-launch support. None of that matters, though, if users open the app once and never come back, which is why retention had to be treated as a design problem from day one rather than an afterthought to fix post-launch.

The solution

Oriana Solutions took charge of the entire Quietnest project, from design through launch. The work started with UX/UI design, to establish a clear navigation structure before writing a single line of code, then continued with development for iOS and Android in parallel, with regular testing to make sure the experience stayed smooth on both platforms. Every screen was designed with a single goal in mind: maximize engagement through modern design, smooth navigation, and optimized performance, rather than stacking features with no overall coherence. Once development and testing were complete, Oriana Solutions handled deployment on the App Store and Google Play, the two distribution channels that let Quietnest reach its users right from launch, without the founder having to manage each platform's technical requirements themselves. This end-to-end approach, with the same team designing, building, testing, and deploying, made it possible to deliver a coherent product without the usual friction between multiple vendors, and without the delays that come from handing work off between them. The results confirmed how solid that approach was: Quietnest was downloaded and used in over 22 countries around the world by several thousand users, and won first place nationally at the Ose Entreprendre competition, one of the most prestigious entrepreneurship competitions in Canada, a recognition that confirms the quality and impact of the app Oriana Solutions delivered. For any mobile founder, it is proof that full-service support, from design through launch on the app stores, can lead to recognition that reaches well beyond the original local market, without the founder ever having to manage the technical side of launching on iOS and Android themselves, or having to piece together a team of contractors to get there.
