Comparing grocery prices from one chain to another is a habit many Quebec shoppers have picked up to manage their budget better, but in practice, that often means opening several apps and several flyers, then spending time comparing product lists by hand. PacPlus was built to solve exactly that problem: a single platform that centralizes prices from several major grocery chains, including Super C and Maxi, so users can compare and order without juggling multiple sites or apps, and save on every order rather than just once in a while. The mandate given to Oriana Solutions covered the entire project: designing a complete web application, from the brand identity to the ordering and online payment system, starting from an idea and turning it into a functional, everyday product. This is the type of mandate we often see from founders who have a clear vision of the problem they want to solve for their users, but need a technical partner able to deliver a complete platform, from the interface to the payment infrastructure, without having to coordinate several different vendors for design, development, and payments. For a small business or startup with a similar business model, comparison tool, marketplace, or ordering platform, this mandate is a good example of the kind of support we can offer: a single point of contact, from concept to live product, without having to manage the coordination between a designer, a developer, and a payment provider yourself, and without having to guess whether the pieces will actually work together once launch day arrives.
Building a grocery price comparison tool raises several distinct technical challenges, on top of the everyday goal of helping shoppers save on every order rather than only once in a while. First, it requires structuring and presenting prices from different chains, here Super C and Maxi, in a way that makes the comparison clear and lets the platform automatically select the best-priced products for the user, without the user having to compare every item by hand. It also requires handling account authentication and security: an application that processes orders and payments has to protect personal data and ensure the platform stays reliable with every use, with no gap that would expose customer information. Since this is an application users check regularly to plan their purchases and their weekly grocery run, reliability and speed had to be just as solid as its security, because a slow or unreliable comparison tool defeats its own purpose. Online payment adds another layer of complexity: the integration had to meet banking security standards while keeping the checkout process fast, with no friction for a user who just wants to finish their order in a few clicks. Finally, PacPlus started with a brand identity to build from scratch: logo, brand guidelines, and UI/UX mockups had to be designed alongside development, so every screen would deliver a simple, modern, and intuitive experience from launch, rather than adding branding on top of an already-functional platform later. Delivering these four pieces, comparison, security, payment, and branding, coherently within a single project run by a single team, was the real challenge of this mandate, one that comes up often for founders starting from a blank page.
Oriana Solutions took charge of the entire PacPlus mandate, from design through development. On the user experience side, we built an application that lets users compare grocery prices across several major chains, including Super C and Maxi, automatically select the best-priced products, and order directly from the platform, with no redirect to a third-party site to complete the purchase. That automatic selection sits at the core of the value proposition: rather than asking the user to compare every product themselves, PacPlus does the work for them and helps them save on every order. For security, we implemented robust authentication along with secure servers, to protect user data and ensure the platform's reliability with every use. Payment was integrated with Stripe, letting users complete their orders directly from PacPlus through a process that is fast, reliable, and fully compliant with banking security standards, without the PacPlus team having to manage payment compliance themselves. Alongside development, we also designed the project's complete visual identity: logo, brand guidelines, and all the UI/UX mockups, so every screen was designed from the start for a simple, modern, and intuitive experience rather than being redesigned later. This is the type of mandate, where design, development, and payment integration are handled by a single team, that makes it possible to deliver a complete, coherent web application rather than a patchwork built by several different vendors. For a founder with a similar idea, marketplace, comparison tool, or online ordering platform, PacPlus is concrete proof of how we can turn a concept into a working web product, from the first screen to secure checkout, with one team accountable for the final result, from the first design file to the day it goes live.
